Dominican charged for overstaying in Guyana

first_imgA Dominican man on Monday appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts charged for overstaying in Guyana.Eric Guante admitted that between January 5, 2019 and February 24, 2019 at Georgetown, he failed to comply with conditions under which he was permitted to stay in Guyana. According to immigration records, Guante was granted permission to stay in Guyana from December 6, 2018 to January 5, 2019.Fined: Eric GuanteOn Monday, in a plea of mitigation, the foreign national told the Magistrate that he was informed that as long as he has a Guyanese child, he could remain in Guyana. With the aid of a translator, Guante further explained that he pleaded guilty, since he did not want to waste the court’s time.However, Police Prosecutor Richard Harris contended that records did not reveal any information about him having a child in Guyana.Magistrate Daly fined Guante $30,000.
