Five previously announced panelists will not be going to SDCC 2019: Benioff and Weiss, Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik, and cast members Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei), and Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont).The #GoTSDCC panel taking place Friday, 7/19 at 5:30PM in Hall H will now consist of panelists @Maisie_Williams, @RaleighRitchie, @nikolajcw, @isaac_h_wright, @johnbradleywest, @liamcunningham1 & Conleth Hill.Follow our ravens for updates.— Game of Thrones (@GameOfThrones) July 17, 2019HBO didn’t reveal why Benioff, Weiss, Sapochnik, Emmanuel, and Glen couldn’t make it to the Game of Thrones SDCC 2019 panel, however, io9 noted that Benioff and Weiss could be skipping out on the major event due to scheduling and production conflicts. It’s likely they might be focusing on their upcoming Star Wars films that will debut in a couple of years.Even though fans won’t be able to ask Benioff and Weiss questions about Game of Thrones’ ending, the show’s SDCC 2019 panel will still feature some key stars, including Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), Conleth Hill (Lord Varys), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), and Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark).DRACARYS!#GameofThrones is the most nominated series at this year’s #Emmys, with 32 nominations. pic.twitter.com/cmPM3XonUE— Game of Thrones (@GameOfThrones) July 16, 2019The panel changes follow Game of Thrones receiving 32 Emmy nominations for Season 8 on July 16. Benioff and Weiss were nominated for writing “The Iron Throne,” Game of Thrones’ series finale, while Sapochnik was nominated for directing “The Long Night,” an episode about the Battle of Winterfell.
