This Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Affairs position is a12-month position that carries the rank of Associate Professor orProfessor. The Associate Dean will work both collaboratively andindependently while reporting to the Dean of the College of Arts,Humanities and Social Sciences. She/He will have leadershipexperience and demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projectseffectively and efficiently. She/He must be able to handleconfidential information in the strictest manner, and deal with adiverse population of students, faculty and staff. The successfulcandidate must demonstrate energy, teamwork, cooperation, andgenuine interest and commitment for improving academic achievementof students in the College. The candidate will be expected to teachat least one or two courses per year. The duties andresponsibilities for the Associate Dean for Undergraduate StudentAffairs include but are not limited to: oversight of undergraduatecurriculum planning, development and evaluation, and assessment ofundergraduate programs; collaboration on academic advising andretention efforts; management of student complaints and gradeappeals; working with the Admissions Office in undergraduaterecruitment and new student orientation; working closely with theOffice of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness(OSPIE) for assessments and student learning outcomes; andmanagement and organization of student special events for theCollege. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanitiesand Social Sciences, the position will assist departments indeveloping, implementing and evaluating undergraduate curricula,enhancing existing curricula, and creating initiatives thatsignificantly improve both faculty and student quality in theCollege. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to,assisting with the management ofUniversity/College-wide/Departmental accreditation and assessmentprocedures and working closely with the College’s ProfessionalAcademic Advisor. The candidate is expected to provide Universityand College service as needed and conduct scholarly activities andany/all other activities required for tenure and promotion.
