The flight had over 60 domestic transfer passengers and more than 40 international transit passengers. Air India has launched its first daily direct flight from Delhi to Sydney and Melbourne after a 22 year break, with the Dreamliner landing at Sydney Airport this morning. The long awaited service is in response to a strong demand for direct services, with 140,000 passengers travelling between Delhi and Sydney last year alone. “India is one of our fastest growing inbound markets, particularly amongst leisure travellers, and with Indian arrivals up nearly eight percent so far this year, the demand is clearly there”, Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy said.
