Mavericks Barbers: The one thing you HAVE to do for your beard!

first_imgThis week, the team at Mavericks in Letterkenny are sharing secrets from the barbershop floor in their guide in how to properly look after your beard. Beard oil is one of the most essential products that any beardsman can own. Using beard oil can take you from looking like the cat dragged you in the door backwards to the ultimate Maverick. From beardruff to beard itch, and the general texture of how your beard feels, the benefits are far and wide. A bit about how it is made upAny high-quality beard oil is typically made up of two distinct ingredients, a carrier oil and an essential oil.Carrier oils themselves will typically deliver many of the core benefits of any given beard oil as they make up about 90% of the actual oil. Typically used are jojoba, argan, sweet almond, grapeseed, and several others. The reason why these oils are so vastly used in beauty products is due to them being completely all natural and having terrific hydrating/moisturizing abilities for your skin and hair follicles. Many of the more expensive beard oils will typically include several essential oils in addition to a carrier oil, such as sandalwood or tea tree are which are natural antiseptics. Therefore, when applied to your skin, these essential oils will do a good job in clearing out your pores to reduce the occurrence of acne.Getting Rid Of That Dreaded Beard ItchJust about every man that grows a beard will start to notice that it gets a bit itchy.  While some Mavericks like to just “push through” this phase, this discomfort is completely unnecessary with the added use of beard oil.At the root of every one of your beard follicles, you have a pair of glands called sebaceous glands. The sebaceous glands create this oil called sebum oil. As your beard follicle gets longer, it simply requires more and more sebum oil to coat the follicle while also keep your skin well-nourished and moisturized. However, no matter the length of your beard, your sebaceous glands stay the same size.  Given that they are finite in size, their sebum oil production can’t effectively keep up with the demand of your beard follicle. As you can see, no matter the length of your beard, sebum oil remains constant.  Therefore, when your beard gets to a certain length (every man is different but typically after a few weeks of growth), their sebum oil just simply isn’t enough. This is when your beard and more importantly, your skin becomes dried out and itchy. So, the introduction of beard oil will act as a supplement to your sebum oil making the dreaded beard itch go away while also giving it the proper nourishment that it is seeking. But Beard Itch is Only Half the Story…. Beardruff? When you don’t use any sort of beard oil on your skin for an extended period of time and are constantly itching it due to irritation, beardruff will be born. Beardruff is essentially dandruff for your beard.  Your skin is so dry that when you start to itch it, the skin begins to flake causing white specs of beardruff to show up on your shirt. This is where the oil intervenes, keeping it conditioned, moisturized and the itch away. How It Looks While we have been concentrating a lot about your skin care with beard oil, it does help make your beard feel a lot softer, but also look great as well. Therefore, if your beard is feeling a bit scraggly or straw-like, regular application of beard oil will help in making it feel much better. This regular use of beard oil will also help with the reduction of split ends occurring.  If you are taking your beard growing seriously, the reduction of split ends will be good news as you won’t have to trim your beard nearly as often. In addition to the feel of your beard, the general appearance of your beard will also improve with the introduction of beard oil.The follicles of your beard will look a little bit shinier and healthier. When a man walks into Mavericks, we can tell whether he has been using beard oil or not regularly. It is simple, even untrimmed, his beard will still look in good shape!TipWhen applying, ensure you comb or brush through thoroughly to ensure oil reaches the root of the hair!!Call into Mavericks on lower Main Street Letterkenny to see our range of beard oils and we have a whole lot more… beard balms, beard shampoos, beard brushes moustache waxes and more, not to mention bespoke beard trimming!!!Also, you can catch up with us on Facebook  (www.facebook.com/Maverickstraditionalbarbershop) and follow us on Instagram (maverickstraditionalbarbershop) Snapchat @MAVERICKSTBS or Twitter www.twitter.com/mavericksbaber…or better still call in and treat yourself.Mavericks Barbers: The one thing you HAVE to do for your beard! was last modified: March 27th, 2019 by Mavericks BarbersShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more

Household spending on the rise

first_img25 June 2010 Real household spending on services declined at an annualised rate of 4.6% in the first quarter of 2010. It followed an increase of 1.6%in the first quarter of 2009. The decline is attributed to reduced spending on transport services. The expansion of the spending by households was evident in all spending categories with the exception of spending on services. Increased outlays on durable goods could mainly be ascribed to buoyant expenditure on new vehicles, recreational and entertainment goods, and on furniture and household appliances. “These increased outlays, although rising strongly, were from a low base. Year-on-year growth in spending on semi-durable goods amounted to 2.9% in the first quarter of 2010.” Petroleum products Cars, entertainment goods “Excluding spending on armaments, growth in consumption expenditure by general government slowed marginally from an annualised rate of 5.2% in the fourth quarter of 2009 to 5% in the first quarter of 2010,” said the central bank. Source: BuaNews Semi-durable goods, which has experienced three successive quarters of decline in real spending, this household expenditure component rebounded rising to an annualised rate of 28.4 percent in the first quarter of 2010.center_img “Household expenditure appears to have been positively influenced by several factors, including an acceleration in the growth rate of real disposable income, the reduced cost of credit as a result of lower interest rates, relatively low inflation, rising confidence levels, and an improvement in households’ net wealth as the prices of real estate and other assets continued to rise,” the central bank said on Thursday. According to the Quarterly Bulletin the increase resulted primarily from increased outlays on clothing and footwear and entertainment goods among others. It said that the pace of increase in real final consumption expenditure by general government accelerated to 7.3% in the first quarter of 2010. This was primarily due to the acquisition of two military aircraft, while real salary outlays also edged higher. Non-durable goods increased by 9.5% in the first quarter of 2010 following on six quarters of uninterrupted contraction. Along with the rising spending by households on vehicles notable increases were recorded in the sale of petroleum products. According to the Bank, growth in real expenditure on durable goods surged at annualised rates of 15.2% in the fourth quarter of 2009 and 16.8% in the first quarter of 2010. South African household spending increased by 5.7% in the first quarter of 2010, compared to a 1.6% rise in the fourth quarter of 2009, according to the Reserve Bank’s latest quarterly bulletin. “The appreciation of the exchange rate of the rand caused the prices of goods with a high import content to become more competitive, which probably also encouraged consumers to acquire durable goods,” it said. Altech UEC opens high-tech STB factory

first_img3 August 2011Technology company Altech UEC has opened a high-tech facility outside Durban with an annual manufacturing capacity of three-million digital set-top boxes (STBs), which are needed as South Africa and sub-Saharan African countries convert their television signals from analogue to digital transmission. With demand for STBs in South Africa expected to reach more than nine-million, and a further 30-million required for the rest of sub-Saharan Africa, the company has consolidated six buildings on two sites into a single, state-of-the-art, 13 500 square metre factory at Mount Edgecombe.“Our investment in this facility is in direct support of government policy,” Altech CEO Craig Venter said at the launch on Wednesday. “Not only are we employing people in the factory, but services such as packaging, delivery and installation will create tens of thousands of small business opportunities in the years to come.“In the process, people will acquire new skills, equipping them for the next wave of ICT innovation and development.”Economic spin-offs destined to be hugeVenter said the economic spin-offs are destined to be huge – from technical support to retailing – while the increased demand for broadcast content, especially regional-based programming, will create more jobs for local content producers and their supply chains.“New jobs will be created all down the delivery chain, while millions will be able to benefit from better education and communication through new electronic means,” said Venter. “Digital migration creates an opportunity to build a globally competitive export sector that is an objective of the [government’s] Industrial Policy Action Plan.”Venter said the new generation STBs would enable millions of people in South Africa and the wider region to access digital television.Resuscitating local research and developmentVenter said ICT innovation, driven by intellectual property, was a “cornerstone of global competitiveness”. There was therefore a need to resuscitate local research and development and, while a South African Silicon Valley might be far-fetched, poverty could only be eradicated by economic growth, which depended on competitiveness.“In a world where everybody has access to the same technological tools, competitiveness depends on how the technology is applied to harness information and create new knowledge,” he said. “People and countries who can meet these demands are the ones who succeed.”SAinfo reporterWould you like to use this article in your publication or on your website? first_imgOxford boss Robinson delighted with Cup rout of West Hamby Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveOxford United boss Karl Robinson was delighted with their 4-0 Carabao Cup rout of West Ham.During his tenure as MK Dons boss, the 39-year-old knocked out Blackpool and Norwich when they were in the Premier League before recording a famous 4-0 win over Manchester United in the third round five years ago.Robinson also triumphed over QPR – when they were in the top flight – in the FA Cup, but played down his cup exploits.”I just like winning football matches, no matter who you play against. I think one thing my teams always do is show tremendous respect for the opposition, but we never change our style,” Oxford’s manager said.”We almost in a stupid way match them at their own game and sometimes it doesn’t work.”I’ve been battered 6-0 in this competition by Southampton. I’ve also been beaten 5-1 by Chelsea in the FA Cup, so there have been a few hidings, but these are the ones you remember for the rest of your life.”Before the game I said I think I have some Premier League youngsters in my team and if you look at our age, we were younger than West Ham.”We don’t only have an older group of players who want to run around, but we have a young team with tremendous growth thanks to the academy and the players we have brought in so I can’t ask for any more from my players.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more
