Claude Puel satisfied with draw

Samsung and Xiaomi Lead Indias 4G Smartphone Market Lenovo A6000 Becomes Most

first_imgThe budget Android smartphone, Lenovo A6000 became the highest sold 4G smartphone in IndiaAnirban RoyThough the percentage of 4G smartphone users is relatively small compared to budget 3G smartphone market, the number of users is not really poor.In the first financial quarter of 2015, 2.2 million 4G LTE smartphones have been shipped in the country. And not surprisingly, Samsung took a stride to dethrone Apple from the No 1 spot.Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi stood second with a market share of 17%, while Samsung achieved 27%. Apple came third with a share of 15%.According to the CMR analysts, Samsung reached the No. 1 spot due to its latest smartphones Galaxy A5, Galaxy A6 and Galaxy S6. But interestingly, the most popular smartphone in this quarter is the Lenovo made budget smartphone A6000.Interestingly, other popular smartphone makers like Huawei, Blackberry and ZTE have also made a debut on the list. “Other than the need to appear distinctive in the market as well as move with worldwide industry trends, device vendors are also trying to create a ‘cult’ follower-ship in the emerging Broadband Wireless Access technology space,” said Faisal Kawoosa, Lead Analyst, CyberMedia Research.”New brands entering this segment during the quarter were Huawei, Blackberry and ZTE. The total number of players shipping 4G/LTE devices in the quarter were 19, up from 12 in the previous quarter,” added analyst Vikrant Singh, according to an Indian Express report.”The total models of 4G/LTE handsets shipped during the January-March 2015 quarter were 55, with Lenovo’s A6000 leading with maximum units.”According to the CyberMedia report, the number of 4G LTE devices increased from 1.06 million (Oct-Dec, 2014) to 2.2 million this quarter, out of which 97% devices are LTE based smartphones. The rest of the devices includes 4G-LTE datacards with a share of 2.64%, out of which ZTE gained 77% followed by Alcatel’s 17% and Huawei’s 5% share.last_img read more

JCD leader killed in Chittagong

first_imgMap of ChittagongA local Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader was killed in an attack by unidentified people at Chandrapur in Hathazari municipality on Monday, reports UNB.The deceased is M Sohel Rana, 24, a member of Hathazari municipality unit JCD and son of Nur Mohammad of the area.Police and witnesses said miscreants tried to swoop on Sohel in the afternoon while he was passing by the Upazila Health Complex area.As he started running to escape the attack, they hurled bricks at him and he collapsed on the ground after being hit.Local people took him to the upazila hospital from where he was shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). However, the JCD leader was declared dead at the CMCH in the evening.Officer-in-charge of Hathazari police station Belal Uddin Jahangir said the incident took place between the followers of BNP leaders Wahidul Alam and Mir Nasir Uddin at a programme in the afternoon.“Sohel was killed after being hit by bricks thrown by the supporters of Wahidul,” he claimed.Meanwhile, central JCD blamed Bangladesh Chhatra League for the incident. In a statement, acting JCD president Mamunur Rashid Mamun and acting general secretary M Asaduzzaman Asad alleged that a group of 25-30 BCL men hacked Sohel to death.last_img read more

Hasina makes volteface over quota Fakhrul

first_imgMirza Fakhrul Islam AlamgirBangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday claimed that his party is not doing politics over quota reform movement and the health of the party’s jailed chairperson Khaleda Zia.“The party, as a big political party, is only projecting truths before the people,” Mirza Fakhrul told a human chain organised in front of the National Press Club in the capital.Bangladesh Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad, a pro-BNP platform of professionals, organised the human chain demanding release and treatment of BNP chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.“The quota reform movement of the unemployed youths is justified. The prime minister [Sheikh Hasina] announced in anger in parliament that there would be no quota, but now she is saying there is no scope to go beyond the High Court verdict on the issue. She has clearly made a U-turn.”Dwelling on the court decision on the quota system in the public service, the BNP leader said the court has not given any verdict on it, rather it made an observation. He also alleged that the prime minister is using the court whenever it suits her interests.Fakhrul also criticized ruling Bangladesh Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader for his remark that the BNP is doing ‘dirty politics’ over Khaleda’s health.“Quader is misguiding the people by this kind of remarks. Khaleda Zia has been kept in jail in an ‘utterly false and politically motivated’ case in a bid to keep her away from politics and election.”Fakhrul alleged that Khaleda is not even getting minimum legal facilities.“Though she obtained bail in the primary case, her release is now being delayed by bringing one ‘false case’ after another to the fore. The government wants to keep her behind bars as long as its goal is not fulfilled,” he added. He alleged that the Awami League-led government’s goal is to cling to power by conducting another one-sided election like that of 5 January 2014. Criticising the recent incident of adulterating the gold kept in Bangladesh Bank’s vault, Fakhrul said the finance minister is giving shelter to those involved in widespread corruption. He also claimed that the finance minister is destroying country’s economy.last_img read more

Physics pair show that Ising model can be used as a universal

first_img Journal information: Science (Phys.org)—A pair of physicists has shown that it is possible to transform disparate spin models into different types of just one simple model. In their paper published in the journal Science, Gemma De las Cuevas, with the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics and Toby Cubitt, with University College London, offer a proof to show that any spin model can be converted to the relatively simple Ising model. Stephanie Wehner with QuTech, Delft University of Technology offers a Perspectives piece on the work done by the team in the same journal issue, outlining the proof and explaining how and why a universal spin model would be useful. © 2016 Phys.org The benefit of having a universal model, Wehner explains, is that it offers an alternative way for scientists to run their models, particularly on a computer. If a 3D model is extremely complex, for example, or requires an untenable number of cycles to run, there is a chance it could be configured to run as an Ising model. But she notes that it could also be used as a means for melding the work being done by physicists and computer scientists, helping to further explain the workings of nature. The first was created by Wilhelm Lenz, who handed it off to Ernest Ising, who used it to show that spins should undergo phase transitions below a certain temperature. Since that time, spin models have been developed for a wide variety of applications, perhaps most notably in particle physics. Now, in this new effort, De las Cuevas and Cutitt show that it is possible to transform any of these other newer models into the 2D Ising model, including 3D models.Their proof has two main parts, the first involved showing that any Ising model is equivalent to an instance of a satisfiability problem and showing a way to match such problems to an Ising model. The second part involved showing how any spin model could be converted to a satisfiability problem and then translated to an Ising model.center_img Scientists explain the theory behind Ising superconductivity More information: G. De las Cuevas et al. Simple universal models capture all classical spin physics, Science (2016). DOI: 10.1126/science.aab3326AbstractSpin models are used in many studies of complex systems because they exhibit rich macroscopic behavior despite their microscopic simplicity. Here, we prove that all the physics of every classical spin model is reproduced in the low-energy sector of certain “universal models,” with at most polynomial overhead. This holds for classical models with discrete or continuous degrees of freedom. We prove necessary and sufficient conditions for a spin model to be universal and show that one of the simplest and most widely studied spin models, the two-dimensional Ising model with fields, is universal. Our results may facilitate physical simulations of Hamiltonians with complex interactions. Universal models contain all models, just like white light contains all colors.
